REFLECTIONS
Throughout this module, I’ve learned a lot about the creative and technical aspects of packaging and merchandising design. Each task presented unique challenges and opportunities for growth.
Task 1: Case Study & Box Making
The case study taught me how to analyze real-world packaging strategies, while box-making helped me explore functional designs. Creating boxes required precision, and I realized the importance of balancing aesthetics with practicality.
Task 2: Innovative Packaging
Designing the coffee cup patterns for Taylor's orientation day was a rewarding challenge. I had to integrate sustainability, Taylor's branding, and effective communication. Iterating on patterns and responding to feedback (e.g., font choice) enhanced my skills in balancing creativity with clarity.
Task 3: Merchandising & Promotional Item
Designing the DakGomtang cup noodle packaging pushed me to think about how to attract customers through cultural elements and branding. This task highlighted the importance of visual storytelling and how it impacts consumer perception.
Overall Reflections
This module helped me refine my design process, from research and ideation to execution and feedback incorporation. I’ve developed a deeper appreciation for how design influences consumer behavior and branding. It also strengthened my attention to detail and ability to adapt based on critiques, which are crucial skills for my future projects.
