Task 1Thematic Interactive Website Proposal

INSTRUCTIOINS

TASK 1

During our first week of class, Mr. Shamsul introduced us to the task of developing a thematic interactive website proposal. The project offered a chance to combine creativity and functionality, and I was eager to dive in. After some consideration, I decided to focus on a product launch website for YSL's new launch product, which perfectly aligns with my interest in luxury beauty products.

I began by outlining the website’s core concept—a dedicated platform to showcase the new YSL eyeshadow palette. The goal was to reflect YSL's luxurious and sophisticated brand identity while emphasizing the product's innovative design and high-quality formulas. This would involve using a cohesive color scheme and design elements that mirror YSL’s iconic style.

The next step was to design the user experience, ensuring it would be both engaging and intuitive. I chose a color palette that included black, gold, and white as primary colors, with deep burgundy and muted nude as secondary colors to maintain a luxurious feel. The website would feature a clean, modern loading page where the YSL logo gradually appears, setting the tone for the rest of the experience.

Creating wireframes was a challenging yet rewarding part of the process. I designed several key pages, including the homepage, product selection page, and product detail page. Each page was carefully thought out to provide an engaging and seamless experience for users. For example, the product selection page uses cuboids to display the palette, and clicking on any item would lead to a detailed product page with descriptions, images, and a call-to-action button.

First Proposal Slides:

At the start of the project, I initially chose to focus on the launch of a new YSL eyeshadow palette and other Lew launch product for my thematic interactive website proposal. However, as I delved deeper into the project, I realised that the YSL Love Shine Series, with its vibrant and luxurious appeal, would be an even better fit for my creative vision.

The YSL Love Shine Series embodies a bold and glamorous aesthetic, making it a compelling subject for a dynamic and interactive website. I envisioned a site that not only highlights the product’s luxurious features but also immerses users in the essence of the Love Shine Series through interactive elements and a striking visual design.

Changing the theme required significant adjustments to the wireframes I had developed. I redesigned the product selection and detail pages to better align with the new concept, incorporating more visually engaging elements and interactive features that would draw users deeper into the experience. The product pages now feature more dynamic content, including rotating images and video clips, to showcase the Love Shine Series in all its glory.

REFLECTION

Experience:

Working on this proposal has been a profound learning experience. I was able to blend creativity with strategic planning, which deepened my understanding of both design principles and the practical aspects of web development. Collaborating with peers and receiving feedback from Mr. Shamsul was instrumental in refining my approach and improving the overall quality of my work.

Switching topics halfway through the project presented new challenges. I had to quickly adapt my design approach and ensure that the new concept was fully fleshed out within a limited timeframe. However, this shift also reinvigorated my enthusiasm for the project, as it allowed me to explore new creative possibilities and push the boundaries of what I initially envisioned.

Observations:

One key observation was the importance of aligning design elements with brand identity. Maintaining YSL's luxurious and sophisticated image required careful attention to detail in every aspect of the website, from color choices to layout.

Findings:

Working on this proposal has been a fulfilling experience, blending creativity with strategic thinking. While there were moments of difficulty, the process has enhanced my skills and deepened my understanding of web design. The decision to switch from the YSL eyeshadow palette to the Love Shine Series was not an easy one, but it ultimately led to a more cohesive and exciting proposal. This experience has taught me the importance of flexibility in the design process and has reinforced my ability to adapt to new challenges. I’m looking forward to continuing this project and seeing where it takes me next.
